The Hawk’s Nest is a scenic, winding stretch of NY Highway 97 known for dramatic cliffs overlooking the Upper Delaware River.  It runs from Hancock NY to Port Jervis NY.  

The plan is to take Rte 30S to Hancock NY, drive the Hawks Nest route, then settle overnight.  Keep in mind that this is leaf-peeping season.  With stops, it will take us about 3 hours down, and an hour to do the drive.  The pull offs are small, only 3-8 cars parallel to the road.

Hotel reservations are on your own.  I suggest booking with free cancellation.

After researching several towns, the best rated, most reasonable is the Hampton Inn, 20 Crystal Run Crossing, Middletown, NY 10941.

The plan for Sunday is a stop at the Brotherhood Winery, the oldest winery in America, in Washingtonville NY.  They open at 11.  Then it’s a hop onto I-84, to I-87, then home.

Corvettes or daily drivers welcome, rain or shine.  Day trippers are also welcome.
